The theory of multiple intelligences Howard Gardner's ending with the traditional idea of a uniquely unique intelligence, and ends up describing a total of eight. Some of these intelligences are more recognized and worked on, such as that related to languages, numbers, music, the artistic part, the natural environment and physical movement. But, there are especially two intelligences very little addressed and considered: the Interpersonal intelligence (roughly related to social relationships) and the so-called intelligence intrapersonal (related to one's own emotions).
The Interpersonal intelligence it is very important because it enables us to relate and act in front of others. It is said that people who have it developed have a great capacity to empathize with others -connect and interpret emotions of others- and to maintain an attitude of active listening.
For its part, intrapersonal refers to the ability to understand and understand our own emotions and usually relates to people with great self-esteem and will and with self-control of their feelings.
Both make up what journalist and psychologist Daniel Coleman described as emotional intelligence and that it is so important to work and develop to be well with oneself and with others.
In the next two sections, we will teach you how to identify each of the two intelligences and how to promote them in order to help their development, either to increase them if they are underdeveloped or, in the case of being tall and wanting to continue maintaining them. Normally, children who show high abilities in the Intrapersonal intelligence and their preferences are encouraged, they tend to excel in professions such as therapists, psychologists, philosophers, writers, etc.
For these types of kids, individual and competitive extracurricular activities (they can play an instrument or opt for an individual sport such as fencing or skating), writing tasks (encourage them to keep a journal), can be good training options. pose challenges that can motivate them (escape room) and even provide quiet spaces and times (practice yoga or mindfulness).
On the other hand, children who show high capacities in the Interpersonal intelligence and their preferences are encouraged, they tend to excel in professions such as educators, therapists, doctors, commercial, administrative and any other profession of customer service.
In this case, the most recommended activities for them are extracurricular activities as a team or group (basketball, football, handball ...), playful spaces and times with their friends, excursions and colonies (hiking, thematic camps), among others.
